RAF MILDENHALL, England — British authorities will not file charges against two British men suspected of assaulting a pair of special operations airmen in January.

The Suffolk Constabulary cleared two suspects — a 22-year-old Lakenheath man and a 23-year-old Lakenheath man — on Feb. 14 and issued fixed-penalty notices Wednesday to two others — a 20-year-old Mildenhall man and a 45-year-old Lakenheath man.

“There was not sufficient evidence to take any further action,” said Suffolk Constabulary spokeswoman Lisa Crane.

A fixed-penalty notice is either 50 pounds ($100) or 80 pounds ($160), Crane said. She was unsure what amount the two were fined.

The four suspects were arrested shortly after the Jan. 28 incident, which led to a 352nd Special Operations Group airman spending several weeks in a British hospital with serious head injuries.

Another 352nd airman was treated after suffering minor injuries in the incident.

Neither the Air Force nor the Suffolk Constabulary has identified any of the victims or suspects involved in the incident.
