NAVAL STATION ROTA, Spain — Think you ought to be in pictures? Or, perhaps, your son? Well, here’s your chance.
Producers for the upcoming film “Deuce Bigalow 2: European Gigolo” are looking for a pair of 8-year-old boys to play a small part in the sequel, and they will be in Rota looking for budding stars. The movie also is looking for extras to play the part of a surfer dude and a TV reporter.
Casting Marbella, an agency based in southern Spain, will hold a casting call at Hotel Playa de la Luz on Monday between 1 and 6 p.m., agency owner Marianne Nilsen said. The hotel is about two miles from the naval station’s main gate.
“They’re looking for a kid who can really do the part,” Nilsen said. “They will open and close the film.”
The beginning and end of the movie is set in Malibu, Calif., but will be shot on the shores of southern Spain. Most of the film is in Amsterdam, where comedian and “Saturday Night Live” alum Rob Schneider is filming this month.
Casting directors are looking for two boys, one white and one black, around 8 years old who have an American accent, Nilsen said. The role of the TV reporter should have that “CNN kind of look,” she added.
The movie begins with the two boys coming up to Deuce Bigalow, played by Schneider, on the beach. They ask him about a new shark repellent device that Bigalow has developed since retiring from his job as a “man-whore.” In the script, Bigalow tells the boys he is now a “fish enthusiast.”
In the sequel to 1999 flick, “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo,” Schneider’s character travels to Amsterdam, where the former fish tank cleaner finds himself forced into the male prostitute business.
The second movie, scheduled to be released next year, is expected to have the same crude jokes that made the first movie a hit. The first Deuce was rated “R.”
Filming in southern Spain is set to begin later this month.
While the thrill of being in a movie might be worth landing the part, extras also will make between 500 and 1,000 euros for about two days’ work, Nilsen said.
