KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — A military panel convicted a 24-year-old Army specialist of assault and battery, a 21st Theater Support Command spokesman said Thursday.

Spc. Dianet Segui, of the 5th Maintenance Company based in Kaiserslautern, was convicted of the lesser charge after pleading not guilty to aggravated assault, spokesman Maj. Mark Wright said.

Segui was accused of cutting another soldier in her unit with a knife near the barracks where they both lived.

The soldier, whose name was not released, was treated and released from Landstuhl Regional Medical Center for cuts to his hand, back and side, Wright said.

Segui apparently was romantically interested in the soldier and became upset when he expressed interest in another woman, Wright said.

Segui was sentenced to three months of confinement, reduction in rank from E4 to E3 and forfeiture of all pay and allowances for three months.
