YONGSAN GARRISON — Area II officials re-examined a plan that would deny base youth access to certain shuttle buses starting Thursday — in order to make room for “official passengers” — and came up with an alternative.

“We looked at the proposed restrictions again and came up with a better answer,” Area II Commander Col. Ron Stephens stated in a message posted Monday on the command’s Web site. “This new plan will help meet the needs of our official duty passengers as well as our community members as a whole.”

Rather than deny service to students at 3 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., officials plan to adjust the Moyer to Hannam Village bus schedules starting Monday, according to the message.

The new schedule will shift the 3 p.m. Moyer to Hannam Village shuttle service to 3:30 p.m. The 4:15 p.m. shuttle will shift to 4:45 p.m.

All other afternoon and evening shuttles to Hannam Village also will start 30 minutes later.

Area II Logistics Director Lydia Grohmann said the new schedule also will meet a community need by providing a dedicated Hannam Village bus at 8:30 p.m.

School officials will continue to encourage students to use authorized school and activity buses.
