The U.S. Embassy and the American Corners Korea — American cultural centers in South Korean libraries — are teaming up to bring a series of free jazz concerts to South Korea as part of the Jazz Ambassadors program.

Beginning Monday, the Neighborless Quartet will hold three concerts in the Pusan and Taegu areas. It performs classical and contemporary jazz, and has been selected as the 2004 Jazz Ambassadors for the State Department.

Each year since 1998, the State Department and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has selected a jazz group to be cultural ambassadors to the world, sending them on performance tours. The groups are selected after a long audition process.

This week’s performances are:

• Monday, 4 p.m. at Yongsan University in Yangsan City.• Tuesday, 4 p.m. at the Pusan Metropolitan Simin Municipal Library Auditorium.• Thursday, 4 p.m. at the Taegu Metropolitan Jungang Library Auditorium.
