U.S. Air Forces in Europe officials recently announced the 2002 nominees for the annual Air Force Safety awards.

They are:

• Koren Kolligan Award: Lt. Col. Kevin A. Booth, 52nd Operations Support Squadron, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany;• Chief of Staff Individual Safety Award: Maj. Vernie W. Pendley, 52nd Fighter Wing, Spangdahlem;• Air Force Chief of Safety Aircrew of Distinction Award: Crew of Koo 03, 86th Airlift Wing, Ramstein Air Base, Germany;• Air Force Chief of Safety Outstanding Achievement Award for Ground Safety: 52nd Fighter Wing, Spangdahlem;• Colombian Trophy: 31st Fighter Wing, Aviano Air Base, Italy;• Air Force Chief of Safety Special Achievement Award: Tech. Sgt. James E. Douglas, 52nd Fighter Wing, Spangdahlem;• Safety Career Professional of the Year Award: Master Sgt. Joe E. Jones, 100th Air Refueling Wing, RAF Mildenhall, England;• Air Force Nuclear Surety Outstanding Achievement Award: Capt. Raymond F. Handrich, 52nd Munitions Support Squadron, Kleine Brogel, Belgium;• Air Force Explosive Safety Outstanding Achievement Award: Tech. Sgt. James A. McMurry, 48th Fighter Wing, RAF Lakenheath, England;• Flight Safety Plaques: 22nd Fighter Squadron, Spangdahlem; 31st Fighter Wing, Incirlik Air Base, Turkey; 39th Wing, Incirlik; 75th Airlift Squadron, Ramstein Air Base; 100th Air Refueling Wing, RAF Mildenhall;• Explosive Safety Plaques: 31st Fighter Wing, Incirlik; 39th Wing, Incirlik; 48th Fighter Wing, RAF Lakenheath;• Nuclear Surety Plaques: 39th Wing, Incirlik; 48th Fighter Wing, RAF Lakenheath; 52nd Munitions Support Squadron, Kleine Brogel.
