A multimedia project produced by the 86th Airlift Wing showcases the work of its nearly 9,000 airmen for one day in June at six bases in Europe.

“Day in the Life of the 86th Airlift Wing” captures airmen during a 24-hour period on June 18, 2014, at Ramstein Air Base, Landstuhl, Vogelweh, and Einsiedlerhof in Germany and the wing’s two geographically-separated units at Morón Air Base, Spain, and Chievres Air Base, Belgium.

More than 30 public affairs professionals took over 7,000 pictures and nearly 700 minutes of video to document how the wing supports multiple Air Force, joint and international missions daily. Photographers started shooting at midnight and finished at midnight, capturing about 94 percent of the unit’s mission in a single day, base officials said.

The final project includes a 190-page digital book, and two videos.

“It was one day that could represent any day at Ramstein, or any other location where” airmen are doing their mission, Maj. Tony Wickman, 86th Airlift Wing chief of public affairs, was quoted in a news release as saying. “After seeing these products, a viewer will come away with a greater understanding of what volunteer, professional” airmen “bring to the fight …”
