AFN Europe’s Gary Bautell will be part of a German-American delegation meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel this week in Berlin, according to an AFN Europe news release.

Bautell, host of AFN Europe’s Newswatch and Open Line radio shows, is also vice president of the Federation of German-American Clubs. Bautell, with other group members, will present Merkel with the General Lucius D. Clay award for fostering German-American relations on Wednesday. He’ll also meet with U.S. Ambassador to Berlin, Philip Murphy, according to the AFN Europe release.

Bautell started working for AFN in its studio in Höchst, Germany, near Frankfurt in 1963. He moved with the network to downtown Frankfurt, and now broadcasts from network headquarters on Coleman Barracks in Mannheim.
