Army and Navy broadcast journalists in Germany, Italy and Belgium secured first-place awards in 15 of 21 categories in the Keith L. Ware broadcast excellence competition, according to an American Forces Network news release.

AFN Europe’s Michelle Michael, in Mannheim, Germany, won the Army’s civilian broadcast journalist of the year.

AFN South Navy broadcasters won first place in the radio news report and TV spot production categories of the Department of the Navy Chief of Information broadcast excellence competition.

First-place winners in most categories go on to compete in the Department of Defense Thomas Jefferson broadcast excellence competition.
