DeLisio, during a reunion of men who fought for control of the famed Ludendorff bridge over the Rhine at Remagen during World War II. In 1945, DeLisio was one of the first to cross the bridge while the wounded Rothe was trying to escape from it. At the time of the reunion, Rothe was a hotel owner in Remagen, but DeLisio was still on active duty with Company A, 2nd Battle Group, 19th Infantry of the 24th Infantry Division at Augsburg, Germany.
