HEIDELBERG, Germany — Army investigators are offering a $1,000 reward for information on an incident at the Heidelberg Golf Course, in which a thief — or thieves — ransacked a storage building, stealing about $24,500 worth of golfing gear.

The fairway heist occurred sometime between April 6 and the morning of April 7.

Golf course patrons used the facility to store golf bags and other gear, and 11 people reported equipment stolen, said Army spokeswoman Regina Abrigo. In addition to the stolen gear, Abrigo said officials reported about $3,000 in damages was done to the building.

Because the golf course is a U.S. Army facility, victims can file a reimbursement claim for the stolen equipment at the Patton Barracks Legal Center in Heidelberg.

Officials declined to say if there are any suspects in the case, “but please be assured [Army Criminal Investigation Command] is conducting an aggressive investigation into this matter,” said Abrigo.

Anyone with information on the crime is encouraged to contact investigators at DSN 370-8453 or civilian 06221-57-8453.
