YOKOSUKA, Japan — Sesame Workshop has launched a new website designed to help children stay connected with their military family members.

The “Military Families Near and Far” site was designed to encourage elementary school-aged children to communicate their feelings as they deal with the challenges military families face, according to a news release.

The site lets children create networks, draw pictures, create songs and write letters to a deployed parent, according to the release.

Previous military family efforts by Sesame Workshop have been aimed at preschool-aged children. “Military Families Near and Far” is aimed specifically to older children.
