Ever get tired of having to be Toad or Princess Peach? Just want to be yourself?

Check out “MySims Racing” for the Wii.

The E-rated driving game from Electronic Arts gives you much of the same action as the popular “Mario Kart Wii” from Nintendo. However, it offers the ability to create your own driver — perhaps making the character look like yourself, or at least how you looked when you were 12.

You can also customize your vehicle. At the start, you select a basic body style and color and choose your headlights, bumper and more. Playing through the campaign unlocks various upgrades that permit you to improve your performance or tweak your car’s appearance.

Aside from that, the game feels much like its cousin from Nintendo. You have cute little characters who drive cute little cars around tracks filled with obstacles and “presents” that you can pick up and use against your opponents. My favorite is the spaceship that helps you quickly make up lost ground — similar to the giant bullet in “Mario Kart.”

There’s a good variety of tracks, ranging from desert to pinball machine.

You have two control options. You can use the Wii remote and twist it back and forth like a steering wheel. Or, you can attach the nunchuck and steer with the joystick and perform other actions with various buttons. The nunchuck option tends to be more precise.

Overall, it’s fun, family-friendly and familiar — perhaps too familiar for many gamers.
