Each athlete plays his own part in a battle against the clock and opposing teams. The first athlete must race up a downhill run, the second flies a paraglider, the third races a mountain bike uphill, and the fourth skis down to the finish line. Winter Solstice Celebrations at StonehengeLocation: Stonehenge, Amesbury, Salisbury SP4 7DE, EnglandDate: Dec. 22 Stonehenge is an ancient prehistoric site that has served as a place of worship and celebration for untold years and is considered sacred by many. Important times to visit are the longest and shortest days of the year, when the stones frame perfectly the midwinter sunset and the midsummer sunrise. The site's manager, English Heritage, welcomes visitors to celebrate the winter solstice by granting access to the Stonehenge monument at first light. Limited car parking opens at 6 a.m., and at 7:45 a.m. the monument field opens. The actual sunrise occurs just after 8 a.m.Admission: Free; 5 pounds parking charge per vehicle applies.
