BACOLI, Italy — The pub quickly filled one recent Friday night, as eager patrons arrived to catch the sounds of Italian band Pigs on the Moon, who offered their tribute to Pink Floyd.

And they rocked.

There was standing room only in Bacoli’s Black Stuff Irish Pub as the four members of the Neapolitan-born band with a passion for the English band — Davide Mongirulli, Eugenio Mussolino, Mirko Di Febbraro, and Sergio Caiazzo — belted out their favorites, including “Hey You,” “Wish You Were Here,” “Shine on You Crazy Diamond,” and “Welcome to the Machine.”

Friday nights at Black Stuff are reserved for live bands, and February featured bands from Pigs on the Moon to rock bands such as Hydronika and Blad, the latter of which was an equally impressive group that played modern pop hits in both English and Italian.

The pub, decked out in dark wood to resemble a traditional Irish pub, features a restaurant on the upper level and a disco on the lower. In the summer, diners eat al fresco.

The pub’s history started only two years ago with the dream of five friends who wanted a place where they could meet and hang out. “It’s a real and true hangout for friends, a place where every evening you can find lots of beautiful people who give life to a new party,” reads a portion of the pub’s Web site, www.blackstuff.it. (The site is written in Italian.)

On the upper level, patrons gather for food, drink and conversation. Black Stuff offers eight varieties of imported beer — including the ever-popular Guinness, Kilkenny and Harp.

Food dishes include traditional Italian appetizers such as rice balls, mozzarella sticks, bruschetta, and cold-cut platters to main dishes from a variety of sandwiches to Irish steak, pizza and a number of pasta dishes. Prices range from about 3 euros to 8 euros.

On the lower level, the owners recently have set up a new disco area, with a dance floor, special lighting, a separate, well-stocked bar, and lounge areas to sit out the dance numbers or chat with friends.
