DENVER -- Two more airlines have agreed to remove excess-bag fees for the military after a Colorado soldier and a buddy posted a video on the Internet complaining that Delta Air Lines made their unit pay $2,800 for extra checked bags.
Staff Sgt. Robert O'Hair of Brighton said his Army Reserve unit had been in Afghanistan for nearly a year. Their unit was flying between Baltimore and Atlanta. According to the Denver Post, 14 members of the 36-soldier unit had checked four bags under Army orders. Delta, which allowed three free bags for active-duty military, charged $200 per excess bag. Delta apologized and changed its baggage policy to allow active-duty military traveling in economy class to check four bags for free.
United and American also changed their policies.
