Three goals by Ragnar Ache gave 1. FC Kaiserslautern an important win in their effort to get out of the second division cellar. Ache’s season goals 10 to 12, and a tough defense led to the 3-0 win over Hansa Rostock Saturday afternoon. The Red Devils got on the board early as Ache scored on a left footer in the sixth minute. After the intermission Ache upped the score with a right-footed goal for the 2-0 in the 66th minute, before switching back to his left foot to score the 3-0 ten minutes later. The FCK defense took care of the rest shutting out Hansa for the win. Combined with a Braunschweig loss, the victory moved the Red Devils up to 15th place and out of the relegation zone. The team returns to Fritz Walter Stadium for a 1:30 p.m. game on March 10 against last place Osnabrück.
