Concussion testing, 2012
Laura Rauch ©Stars and StripesAfghanistan, June, 2012: Marine Sgt. Albert Carls undergoes a balance test conducted by Navy occupational therapist Lt. j.g. Tommy Neuens at the Concussion Restoration Care Center at Camp Leatherneck in Helmand province. Carls suffered a concussion during a series of IED blasts in the Kajaki district, and although he wanted to remain with his unit, a Navy corpsman sent him to the center. “I was in denial of being injured," he admitted.
