Gene Bane ©Stars and StripesRickinghall, Suffolk, U.K., August, 1956: A farm cat takes its chances against a tractor being unloaded at Kiln Farm, where American-made machinery was a common sight during the postwar years. "If a piece breaks off a D-2 Caterpillar or an Allis-Chalmers tractor, you can weld it back together and it sticks like a couple of pieces of flypaper," said the farm's manager. "You can't do that with some of our British machines. Difference is in the temper of the steel, I guess."
