An airman assigned to the 48th Component Maintenance Squadron, based at RAF Lakenheath in the United Kingdom, was killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday near Bury St. Edmunds, according to a press release from the 48th Fighter Wing.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The accident is under investigation by the Suffolk Constabulary and more information will be released as it becomes available, the release stated.

“The Liberty Wing family suffered a tragic loss yesterday,” Col. John T. Quintas, 48th Fighter Wing commander, said in a statement released Sunday. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the Liberty Airman killed in yesterday’s accident.”
