South Vietnam, August, 1964: Master Sgt. Wayne Whightsil, attached to the Special Forces team at Moc Hoa, crosses a river in the Binh Chau area during a five-day patrol while serving as an adviser to a Vietnamese Strike Force company. "It's tough," he said, adding that Viet Cong troops in the area "can see you coming. They know we're here. Now it's a question of whether or not they'll attack."
