TOKYO, Japan — Department of Defense Education Activities Pacific named four educators at its “Teachers of the Year” last week as the 2010-11 school year came to a close.

They are:

Guam District — Jean Marie Tuquero, first-grade teacher, McCool Elementary/Middle School on Naval Base Guam.

Japan District — Daniel Galvin, math teacher, Yokota High School, Yokota Air Base, Japan.

Korea District — Bernadette Schlueter, fourth-grade teacher, Seoul American Elementary School, U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan, South Korea.

Okinawa District — Marsha Post, elementary math support specialist, Zukeran Elementary School, Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan

The four teachers will attend a conference later this year at DODEA headquarters in Arlington, Va., with other DODEA staff from Europe and the U.S. who received the same award for their respective districts. In the fall, DODEA will choose an overall “Teacher of the Year” for 2010-11 from among the top candidates.
