We will update this list as more fliers come in. Next week we will post walks for September and beyond, based on the fliers we have so far.
• If you’re looking for a beer stein as a volksmarch prize, head to Grombach, Germany, this weekend. It is a B-medal award, so the date on it might be a few years old. Still, since beer steins are offered as prizes only a few times a year, you might want to take advantage of this offer.
• If you prefer your beer in a glass, head to the volksmarch at Schiffweiler to get a Weizenbierglass.
• At Donzdorf this weekend, the award is a cuddly, 10-inch, yellow, stuffed duck. Doors open both days at 6 a.m.; be sure to get there early to make sure you get the duck.
• On Sunday in Donzdorf there will be a Stammtisch get-together for the Stuttgart German-American Wandering Club. The club’s blue flag will be on a table at the start hall. If you are a walker in the Stuttgart area, get to know this club.
• Sunday we most likely will be going to the walk in Longvilly, Belgium. The entire area is steeped in WWII history. Fighting was very heavy in the Longvilly area as the Wehrmacht advanced toward Bastogne. Bob will dig out his well-worn copy of John McManus’ “Alamo in the Ardennes” and read about the fighting. We love walking near Longvilly.
