From Thursday through Sunday, the city of Cádiz, Spain, will be the port of call for some 40 vessels participating in Sail Training International’s Tall Ships Races of 2012. A highlight of the tall ships calling on any city is the opportunity to board the vessels. The ships will be open to visitors starting at 1:30 p.m. Thursday and noon on Friday and Saturday. Take time to chat with the crewmembers, half of whom must be between the ages of 15 and 25, according to regatta rules.Other activities in tandem with the ships’ visit include nightly performances by the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art (8:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday), concerts and a theme park set up on the docks. On Sunday, a naval parade gets under way at 3 p.m. The fleet sets sail for La Coruña at 6 p.m.Find the program at http://tinyurl.com/cc9mowz.
