The Rheingau Wine Festival turns Wiesbaden’s city center into a vast festival, open-air stage and tasting room Friday through Aug. 19. Residents and visitors to Hesse’s elegant capital city can sample from the stands of some 100 wineries. The fest sprawls between City Hall, Parliament and the market church.

Although the Rheingau makes up only about 3 percent of the country’s vineyards, the wines produced, predominantly Rieslings, are highly regarded.

Wiesbaden’s sister city of Wroclaw, Poland, will be represented by Adoria Vineyard, a small but up-and-coming winery in the Odra Valley owned by an American with experience in the vineyards of California and Washington state. Learn more at http://tinyurl.com/bwdxp8o (English option available).
