YOKOSUKA NAVAL BASE, Japan — The guided-missile destroyer USS Mustin and guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh, both based in San Diego, will replace two ships at Yokosuka Naval Base serving in the Forward Deployed Naval Forces, Western Pacific, Navy officials stated Friday.

Arriving at Yokosuka in July, the Mustin will replace the guided-missile frigate USS Vandegrift. The Shiloh is to arrive in August to replace the guided-missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville. Then the Vandegrift and Chancellorsville will steam to San Diego in August and September, respectively.

Such ship rotations are done to replace older ships in the FDNF with newer, more capable ships, a news release from Command, U.S. Naval Forces Japan stated.
