SEOUL — U.S. Forces Korea personnel are advised to avoid South Korean demonstrations Friday and Saturday.

The Federation of Functional Economic Groups is to gather near the U.S. Embassy from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday to “demand revision of special laws about safety management,” according to a warning on the USFK Web site -

About 4,000 people are expected in Gwanghwamun Citizens Park near the Embassy on Friday.

And about 1,000 people with the National Yondae for Abolishment of National Security Law are to meet at the Seoul Train Station plaza from noon to sunset on Saturday, according to USFK. That gathering also is expected to be peaceful.

USFK personnel are encouraged to avoid all demonstrations.

And because “a significant number of demonstrators will use public transportation to reach these sites, avoid mass transportation systems in these areas,” according to USFK.

All civilian employees, invited contractors and family members are encouraged to follow USFK force protection guidance, according to the Web site.
