The U.S. Army Europe Band and Soldiers’ Chorus will hold five concerts featuring a variety of pop, classical, jazz, marches and vocal arrangements in October and November.

The 2008 German-American Friendship concert series will feature music by composers Holst and Tchaikovsky as well as contemporary film music from John Williams.

The band and chorus, stationed at Tompkins Barracks in Schwetzingen, Germany, is under the command of Lt. Col. Beth Steele.

It is "the Army’s third largest musical organization, the biggest outside of the United States, and the Army’s premier musical ambassadors in Europe," according to a news release issued Friday.

The following concert dates have been scheduled:

- Oct. 17 from 8 to 10 p.m. at Sauerlandhalle in Altenhundem (Helmut-Kumpf-Str. 57368, Lennestadt). For more information, call 02714890333.

- Oct. 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rudolf Wilde Halle in Eppelheim (Schulstrasse 6, 69214 Eppelheim).

- Oct. 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rococo Theater at the Schwetzingen Schloss.

- Oct. 25 from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Stadthalle in Schönau (Rathausstr. 28, 69259 Schönau). For more information, call 062282070.
