WASHINGTON, D.C. — The government shutdown is affecting many things, and one of them is trash. Team Rubicon volunteered to alleviate that problem, at least on the National Mall, on Sunday, October 13.

Despite the rain and overcast weather, volunteers and veterans walked along Constitution Avenue and the Mall, picking up litter and, sometimes, branches.

Their work was noticed by passers-by, some thanking them as they worked and others asking if they could volunteer to help.
