WASHINGTON -- The commander of the Army’s training center at Fort Jackson, S.C., was suspended Tuesday after allegations of adultery and a “physical altercation,” a spokesman said.
Brig. Gen. Bryan T. Roberts was suspended by Gen. Robert W. Cone, commander of U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, while the allegations are being investigated, said command spokesman Harvey Perritt.
Brig. Gen. Peggy C. Combs, commandant of the U.S. Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear School at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., will take over the position until the investigation is complete, Perritt said.
Roberts, who has served as commander of the Army Training Center since April 2012, was commissioned in August 1983. He previously served as the director of Iraq Training and Advisory Team-Army for United States Forces-Iraq, the deputy commanding general of the Army’s recruiting command, the director of integration in the office of the Army’s deputy chief of staff and the commander of 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division in Fort Hood, Texas, and in Iraq.
He has earned the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, among other decorations and badges.
