Sesame Street for Military Families is ringing in its 20th anniversary with new digital resources for military-connected families.
The website is a collaboration between Sesame Workshop and the Department of Defense to support military children through the transitions that can come with frequent moves and parent deployment.
The resources focus on promoting family wellness and physical activity.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we’re introducing new resources that make it easier for families to stay active, build healthy habits, and spend quality time together,” Rocio Galarza, vice president of U.S. educational programs at the Sesame Workshop, said in a news release.
A new digital game invites kids to walk with Elmo around a park and instructs players on how to perform kid-friendly exercises, like jumping jacks.
Sesame Workshop is also kicking off a new social media campaign with tips for families from cooking healthy recipes to starting a kitchen garden.
“Whether it’s moving with Elmo, trying new family activities, or creating everyday routines, these tools help children grow stronger, healthier, and ready for whatever comes next,” Galarza said.
