ISLAMABAD — A lawyer representing Pakistan's former President Pervez Musharraf says he has been granted bail in a case involving the death of a separatist leader.

The move paves the way for Musharraf's release. He has been granted bail in other cases against him as well.

Lawyer Ahmad Raza Qasuri says Wednesday's ruling means Musharraf is free once the paperwork has been completed.

Musharraf returned from exile in March but immediately ran into legal trouble in several court cases that stemmed from his time in office and was ordered detained.

For security reasons he has been held at his house instead of a jail.

A prison official at Musharraf's home, Shehzad Riaz, says he is aware of the court's decision but was waiting for orders from his superiors.
