US continues attacks on Iran, reaching seven consecutive days of strikes

U.S. forces conducted a seventh consecutive day of strikes against Iran on Friday, U.S. Central Command announced in a post on X.

“The strikes are designed to continue degrading Iranian military capabilities at the Commander in Chief’s direction,” CENTCOM said.

The U.S. struck Iranian “surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities.”

Friday’s strikes followed a seven-hour operation Thursday night in which U.S. forces struck dozens of Iranian military targets, including coastal surveillance and air defense sites, military logistics infrastructure and maritime capabilities, a CENTCOM statement said.

U.S. Central Command confirmed in an X post on Friday that U.S. forces had destroyed a surveillance tower at Iran’s Chabahar Porton on Thursday and added video of the strikes.

“American forces remain vigilant as the United States strictly enforces the naval blockade against Iran,” CENTCOM said.

American naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz resumed Tuesday and U.S. forces have redirected at least five commercial vessels, disabled one and boarded another as of July 18, according to CENTCOM, which oversees U.S. military activity in the Middle East.

An interim peace deal reached last month has repeatedly been tested by attacks. Talks to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, halt Tehran’s nuclear program and reach a permanent end to the war that started Feb. 28 are on hold.
