The 48th Fighter Wing’s top enlisted man is headed to the Air Force Warfare Center at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.
Chief Master Sgt. Jeffrey Williams was nominated for the job by United States Air Forces in Europe. He leaves for Nellis on Oct. 29.
"My duties will pretty much be what I have here, except it is at the next level," Williams said. "It is like a promotion for chiefs. Everyone wants to excel in their career and this is a move up."
The Air Force Warfare Center role includes developing tactics, advanced training in the air and work in space and cyberspace, an Air Force release stated.
Williams’ duties will include supervising five other command chiefs. The 24-year Air Force veteran said he expects to serve at the center, which includes the Air Force’s Red Flag, for at least two or three years.
Lakenheath escapee spottedA convicted airman who escaped from RAF Lakenheath last week was spotted in a town just off base Friday, officials said late Monday.
Air Force officials said Airman Basic Jeremy Parrott was seen in Brandon, a small village about five miles northeast of Lakenheath on Friday. With help from British authorities, a nationwide manhunt has been underway for Parrott since he eluded his military escort at the base hospital last week.
Parrott is likely on foot and still in the area, authorities said.
Parrott, 29, was convicted this summer on three child pornography charges. He had served less than three months of his three-year sentence when he escaped.
Base officials would not disclose details about how Parrott got away from his escort or how he accessed his dorm room before fleeing the base. They also would not say whether Parrott’s escort is suspected of being an accomplice.
Anyone with information about Parrott’s whereabouts are asked to call the nearest local constabulary or the 48th Security Forces Control Center at 01638 52 2333.
