A Vilseck, Germany-based soldier died Saturday in Afghanistan in a non-combat related incident, according to a Defense Department release.

Maj. Paul D. Carron, 33, of 2nd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, died in Qalat of injuries sustained in the incident, DOD officials said. Further details of Carron’s death could not be released because the incident is still under investigation, unit spokesman Maj. Rob Hoover said in an e-mail on Tuesday.

The DOD release said Carron was from Missouri, but Army officials did not know his hometown.
