GRAFENWOEHR, Germany — Servicemembers, civilians and families participated in the annual Grafenwoehr Rugged Terrain Obstacle Run at Grafenwoehr, Germany, on Saturday.
Runners climbed, jumped and maneuvered their way through a grueling 16-kilometer trail with more than 20 obstacles at the Grafenwoehr rugged terrain trail, a training trail used to test a small unit’s ability to navigate through rough terrain.
The obstacles included the rolling balance beam, tire flips and a "monster wall." The runners had to work together during parts of the course, carrying and helping fellow runners over walls and through muddy ditches.
The run was part of the Army’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation program to reduce stress and build skills and self-confidence for soldiers and their families.
