KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — A memorial service for Irvin Siplin, an employee of the U.S. Army Garrison-Kaiserslautern, is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. at Daenner Chapel.

Siplin died in Kaiserslautern on April 10 after a long illness, according to USAG-Kaiserslautern officials.

Siplin worked since 1998 as a recreation aide in the garrison’s sports and fitness programs and facilities, where he was a facility manager, programmer for unit-level sports programs and maintainer of sports fields and courts. In addition to his role with the sports department, he contributed to many communitywide events.

A native of Madison, Fla., Siplin was drafted into the Army in 1970 and served in the United States, Turkey and Germany. He is survived by his wife, three sisters and a brother.
