Following is a sampling of Fourth of July events planned at U.S. bases around Europe:

• Azores

Lajes Field: Freedom Festival begins at 3:55 p.m. July 4 at the SFS softball field. Music, food booths, children’s area, hula dance demonstrations and shows; fireworks at 10:30 p.m.

• Belgium

Brussels: U.S. Army Garrison Sterrebeek Annex’s celebration is 3-11 p.m. on July 3. Softball tournament, waterslide, children’s activities, food, live band and fireworks.

SHAPE: Activities on the field next to the GB supermarket run noon to 11 p.m. Live music, magic show, contests, food and drink booths operated by international organizations; fireworks at 11 p.m. behind the Total Fina service station.

• Germany

Ansbach: Festivities in housing area near Ansbach Elementary School begin at 4 p.m. July 4. Games, rides, concessions, a raffle, fun run and live music; fireworks at 10:30 p.m.

Bamberg: Events at Pendleton Field begin at 2 p.m. July 4. Golf tournament, fun run, car show, children’s rides and activities and live music; fireworks at 10:15 p.m.

Baumholder: Activities on Smith Barracks begin at 3 p.m. July 4. Adult and youth sports activities, free bowling, arts and crafts, food and beverage stands, eating competition, talent show, live music; fireworks at 10:45 p.m.

Grafenwöhr: The city of Grafenwöhr hosts activities beginning at noon July 3 with an exhibition of historic military vehicles, tours of the training area, a children’s parade and live music. Starting at 4 p.m. on July 4, there will be face painting, balloon twisting, magic show, games, volleyball, concerts, tours of the water tower, and live entertainment including Gary Sinise’s Lt. Dan Band from 4-6:30 p.m.; fireworks at 10:30 p.m.

Heidelberg: Events at the Patrick Henry Village Park, behind the library, begin at 4 p.m. July 4. Beach volleyball competition, a pie-eating contest, dunking booth, salute to the states, food and beverage stands, and live music including USAREUR Chorus; fireworks at dusk.

Hohenfels: Freedom Fest and Soldier and Family Appreciation Day on the Festplatz runs 2 p.m. to midnight July 4. Free food, live music, children’s activities and water slide; fireworks at dusk.

Kaiserslautern: Activities at Kapaun Air Station are 2 p.m. to midnight July 3. Food stands, carnival rides, bands, games, prizes and live music; fireworks at dusk.

Mannheim: Mannheim Summer Fest on the sports arena parking area on Benjamin Franklin Village. World Cup soccer games will be shown on large screens inside the fest tent. “Mannheim Idol” finals at 6 p.m. July 3; fireworks July 4.

Schweinfurt: Celebration on Kessler Field begins at noon July 4. Music, rides, children’s activities and the “World of Wheels” car show; fireworks at dusk.

Stuttgart: Activities at Husky Field 4 p.m. to midnight July 4. Children’s rides, family activities, food and beverages, live entertainment; 5k Family Fun Run, no registration necessary; fireworks at 11:20 p.m.

Wiesbaden: Celebration at Wiesbaden Army Airfield begins at 4 p.m. July 4. Rides, giveaways, drinks and refreshment, live music and boxing invitational at 5 p.m.; fireworks show at dusk.

• Italy

Aviano: Events at Freedom Park begin at 5 p.m. July 4. Children’s fun zone with a water slide, bouncy castle and climbing wall, dance show, hole-in-one contest, batting cage and live bands; fireworks at 10:05 p.m.

Camp Darby: Activities at the American Beach begin at 9 a.m. July 4. Free games and activities for children, DJ and dancing on the pavilion from 7 p.m. to midnight, barbecue meal for purchase; fireworks at 10 p.m.

Vicenza: Events at U.S. Army Garrison Vicenza start at 3 p.m. July 3 and 5:30 p.m. July 4. Balloon games, dancing, bands and street entertainment; laser show at 10:30 p.m. July 4.

• United Kingdom

RAF Feltwell: Community celebration begins at noon July 4. Carnival rides, game booths, a children’s play area, laser tag, climbing wall, car and bike show, helicopter display, birds of prey demonstrations, cheerleaders, and live music, including Check Six, a U.S. Air Forces in Europe jazz band; fireworks at 10 p.m.
