GRAFENWÖHR, Germany — Meteorologists have reported a record December snowfall at Grafenwöhr — home to the U.S. Army’s largest overseas training facility.

U.S. Air Force Capt. Shaun Wallace of the 7th Weather Squadron said 38.7 inches of snow have been recorded in December topping the highest recorded snowfall in the area of 32 inches.

According to Wallace, the area saw five major blizzards during the month and several smaller snowfalls. The bad weather forced U.S. Army officials to close bases at one stage and order several two-hour work and school delays.
