Navy Capt. W. Scott Butler assumed command of Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily, from Navy Capt. Thomas J. Quinn during a change of command ceremony this week.

Quinn had served as the Navy base’s skipper since May 2001 and now plans to retire, officials said.

Butler arrives in Sigonella after having served as operations officer for U.S. 7th Fleet in Japan and serving aboard the amphibious force flagship USS Blue Ridge.

“My most proudest accomplishment was instilling in the community not what can you do for me, but what can I do for you,” Quinn said during Wednesday’s ceremony. “You have to take care of each other.”
