Bamberg-based soldier killed in Afghanistan

A Bamberg-based soldier has been killed in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Sunday.
Spc. Darrion T. Hicks, 21, of Raleigh, N.C., who was serving in the Ghazni province, Afghanistan, died Thursday of injuries sustained from an enemy improvised explosive device, officials said.
He was assigned to the 54th Engineer Battalion, 18th Engineer Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Bamberg, Germany.
