Eight U.S. service members were injured Thursday in western Poland when a military vehicle crashed during a convoy, according to Polish media reports.
The accident happened as the troops were traveling to the Drawsko Pomorskie training ground, Polish news outlet RMF24 reported, adding that their truck was left overturned on the side of the road.
One person in serious condition was transported to a nearby hospital by helicopter, RMF24 said, quoting a local military official.
Several others were said to have been taken to a hospital and are in stable condition.
Regional newspaper Kurier Szczecinski reported that the American soldier who was airlifted to a hospital suffered a suspected spinal injury.
A photograph published on the newspaper’s website shows what appears to be a U.S. military vehicle lying on its side in a grassy area off the road.
