Four U.S. soldiers were injured Monday evening in central Poland when their military vehicle collided with a bus, according to U.S. military officials and local news reports.

U.S. Army Europe and Africa said Tuesday that the soldiers involved are assigned to the 1st Armored Division and were taking part in convoy operations near Buk.

Paramedics took them and an injured civilian to a nearby hospital for evaluation, USAREUR-AF said. The soldiers have since been released back to their unit, the Army said.

Buk is a short distance west of Poznan, which serves as the U.S. Army’s main operational hub in Poland and home to V Corps’ forward headquarters in Europe. From Poznan, military commanders oversee missions up and down NATO’s eastern flank.

The bus collided with a convoy of U.S. Humvees, but it was unclear how many military vehicles were snared in the accident, Polish news outlet RMF24 said.

“We appreciate the quick response of the local Polish first responders as they rendered care and assistance to all present at the scene,” the USAREUR-AF statement said.
