Col. Mark Spindler officially assumed command of the 18th Military Police Brigade during a ceremony last week at Coleman Barracks Annex in Mannheim, Germany.
Spindler on Friday replaced Col. James Brown, who will become chief of antiterrorism for the U.S. Northern Command at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.
Spindler earned his commission from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master’s degree from Central Michigan University. He also was a professor of military science in St. Louis. His most recent assignment was as commander of the 793rd MP Battalion in Bamberg, Germany.
Spindler’s decorations include the Army Superior Unit Award for Operations Joint Endeavor and Joint Guardian and accompanying NATO medals for operations in the Balkans, and the Air Assault Badge.

The free show kicks off at 9 p.m. on Aug. 3 at the Capo Reel Time Theater on the Capodichino naval base. The event is recommended for an adult crowd because of explicit language used in the routines, base officials said.
The Liberty Center will provide a free shuttle for single sailors living on the support site in Gricignano. The shuttle will leave the support site hospital parking lot at 7:30 p.m., and shuttle sailors back 20 minutes after the show ends. Sailors who want to book a seat on the shuttle should call DSN 626-4896 by Monday.
