RAF LAKENHEATH, England — U.S. Air Forces in Europe last week took part in Excalibur 2005, a bombing and strafing competition, in England.

The winners of the competition are:

45-degree High Altitude Release Bomb: Maj. Rich Murray, 23rd Fighter Squadron, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany;

30-degree Dive Bomb: Maj. Trent Hill/Capt. Christian Burbach, 492nd Fighter Squadron, RAF Lakenheath, England;

20-degree Low Altitude Load Drag: Maj. Trent Hill/Capt. Christian Burbach, 492nd Fighter Squadron, RAF Lakenheath;

10-degree Low Altitude High Drag: Flight Lt. Alex Tennent, Royal Air Force, England.

Low-Angle Strafe: Capt. Sam Mann, 22nd Fighter Squadron, Spangdahlem;

Top Gun: Maj Rich Murray, 23rd Fighter Squadron, Spangdahlem;

Top Flight: 22nd Fighter Squadron, Spangdahlem — Capt. Sam Mann, Capt Matt Speer, Maj. John Vincent and Capt. Tim Pesek.

Top Wing: 31st Fighter Wing, Aviano Air Base, Italy.

Woman dies in Sigonella car accident

NAS SIGONELLA, Sicily — A single-car accident claimed the wife of a sailor Friday morning, but all four of her children in the car survived.

Stacie Whitehair, 36, was killed while driving along a road from the Mineo housing complex to Sigonella, where her husband is assigned to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 8. A base public affairs officer said the children riding with her were not injured.

Memorial services are pending on base and the accident is still under investigation.
