Europe briefs: Donations to pay for Fisher House holiday meals
Service Credit Union and military banking leaders donated $1,000 Thursday to pay for holiday meals for families staying at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center’s two Fisher Houses.
The checks were presented during a visit by banking officials to Fisher Houses I and II. They included: David Weber, president and chief executive officer of Armed Forces Financial Network; Roland Arteaga, president and chief executive officer of the Association of Military Banks of America; Andrew Egeland Jr., president and chief executive officer of the Association of Military Banks of America; and Richard Tolle, senior vice president of Service Credit Union for Overseas Operations.
Both Fisher houses are across the street from the hospital. They provide rooms for those who have family members in serious condition at the hospital.
Service Credit Union serves all branches of the U.S. military, Defense Department employees and their families. The financial institution has 14 branches in Germany.
Memorial planned for chief master sergeantA military funeral service will be held for retired Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Bobby D. Davis at 2 p.m. Friday at the cemetery chapel in Gauangelloch, near Heidelberg.
Davis died Oct. 30 in Heidelberg after a long illness. His 30-year Air Force career included tours in Germany at Sembach, Rhein-Main and Ramstein air bases; Oxnard Air Force Base in California; Chanute AFB in Rantoul, Ill.; Vietnam and Korea.
After retiring, he worked in the International Agreements Division in the Heidelberg resource management department.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marianne, and daughter Caroline Davis and her husband, Kris Lehnert of Heppenheim.
