Michael Thompson has been appointed superintendent of the Bavaria District Office, Department of Defense Dependents Schools-Europe, DODDS-Europe announced Wednesday.

Thompson will oversee 26 schools in the Army garrisons of Franconia, Stuttgart, Ansbach, Bamberg, Hohenfels, Schweinfurt, Grafenwöhr and Garmisch.

Thompson, a native of Butte, Mont., has been assistant superintendent and chief of staff for the Bavaria District since 2000. He was principal at Nuremburg American High School from 1992 until 1995 and Hohenfels High School from 1995 until 2000.

60 vendors to attend Vicenza’s Festa Italia BazaarAbout 60 vendors from Europe and the Middle East will be selling products this weekend at the annual Festa Italia Bazaar on Caserma Ederle in Vicenza, Italy. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday and is open to Department of Defense identification cardholders.

The vendors will be selling furniture, handbags, jewelry, ceramics, wrought iron items, food products, marble, linens and more. Dollars, euros and personal checks will be accepted. Credit cards will be accepted by some vendors. There will be food for sale and raffles will be held.
