AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy — An airman assigned to the 31st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron was sentenced after pleading guilty to a series of drug charges in a general court-martial at Aviano that ended Wednesday.

Airman 1st Class James R. Heal was sentenced to four years in prison, reduction to E-1 and a bad-conduct discharge. He will receive credit for 161 days he served in pre-trial confinement, according to a release from the 31st Fighter Wing’s public affairs office.

The judge agreed to dismiss larceny charges against Heal after agreeing to a defense motion. Heal had entered a not guilty plea to those charges.

But he pleaded guilty to seven different specifications of drug charges, including use of marijuana, Ecstasy, methamphetamine, mushrooms and cocaine. He also pleaded guilty to charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and introduction of the substance onto the base.

Heal also entered guilty pleas to two instances of failing to report for duty and another of improperly wearing jewelry in his lip and ear.

Skateboarder Lutzka to perform in NaplesNAPLES, Italy — Champion skateboarder Greg Lutzka will perform at the Naval Support Activity Naples support site skate park at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Lutzka has competed in various skate competitions around the world and won a silver medal during the 2005 summer X Games in Los Angeles and won the 2004 Slam City Jam championship, which is the North American skateboard championship.

The 21-year-old has boarded professionally for two years and is known for his smooth, but aggressive, style. He has also appeared on television and in movies, including the recent film “Accepted.”
