Europe briefs: Airman found guilty of rape
AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy – An airman assigned to the 603rd Air Control Squadron was found guilty of two separate rapes and lesser charges in a general court-martial last week.
Tech. Sgt. Athol F. Streete had pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.
A jury found him guilty of rape in the state of Washington and Italy and also returned guilty verdicts for violating a no-contact order and failure to go, a military legal term usually meaning a failure to show up for an appointment.
He was sentenced to eight years of confinement, forfeiture of all pay and allowances and a reduction in rank to E-1, as well as a bad-conduct discharge.
Airman sentenced for larceny
AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy – An airman assigned to the 31st Security Forces Squadron was found guilty of larceny in a special court-martial last week.
Airman Victoria M. Kenon pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced by a military judge.
She received a sentence of two months confinement with the loss of $823 pay each month, reduction in rank to E-1 and a bad-conduct discharge.
