RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany — The active-duty Air Force member who was killed in a traffic crash on Autobahn 63 on Friday morning has been identified as Staff Sgt. Shirley Bosi.

Bosi worked as a medical material journeyman for the 435th Medical Support Squadron at Ramstein Air Base, according to a 435th Air Base Wing press release.

A memorial service is being planned for Wednesday at Ramstein’s Northside Chapel.

“Although our wing is a military organization, our shared experiences and our common focus also make us akin to a family,” 435th Air Base Wing Commander Col. Kurt Lohide said in the press release. “Unfortunately we’ve lost one of our family members, and we all mourn that loss.”

German police and the 569th U.S. Forces Police Squadron are investigating the crash, the press release stated.

Soldier dies after being found unconsciousA soldier assigned to the 512th Maintenance Company was found unconscious in the unit barracks on Spinelli Barracks at 10 a.m. Sunday in Mannheim, Germany.

The soldier was later pronounced dead at the scene by German medical authorities, according to a 21st Theater Support Command news release.

The identity of the soldier is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification. Criminal Investigation Command agents are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, the release stated.
